Testimonial – Sean McBride and For Floors

I recently had a requirement to purchase a rug for my mother’s house in West Cork. Intuitively I felt it would not be sensible to purchase it anywhere other than West Cork for logistical reasons. However, I knew Sean McBride of For Floors and mostly out of courtesy I visited his shop in DunLaoghaire.

On entry to the shop I was greeted with a “cead mile failte” and first impressions were of a very tastefully designed and laid out shop. Further investigation revealed products of extremely high quality at reasonable prices and a general sense that the shop delivered great value for money. Furthermore the customer service delivered by Sean and his team is without doubt unparalleled in Dublin and beyond.

Needless to say I purchased a fabulous rug and Sean had it delivered to West Cork within days – For Floors don’t understand what logistical problems are! And most importantly my mother agreed the rug was beautiful.

All in all I think For Floors and Sean McBride is a perfect example of what went wrong in Ireland during the boom and why we will get out of the current bust. We lost the ability to deliver customer service and value for money. Sean and For Floors deliver these in abundance and it is a pleasure to visit their shop. I would recommend For Floors most highly.

Testimonial – Sean McBride and For Floors

When was the work done?

The work was done in October, 2011.

What was involved?

It involved putting down new carpet for the stairs and landing, it wasn’t a big or expensive job. We needed carpet of a higher quality and durability because it would be covering a high traffic area.

How did you choose For Floors?

We used to get our carpet from another shop in Dun Laoghaire, Maurice Walshe’s but they had gone out of business. It was too bad because they were very good. We knew that there was a new carpet shop in Dun Loaghaire run by someone who had worked at Maurice Walsh but we didn’t know his name or the shop. We literally walked up and down the street until we found Sean at For Floors.
When you speak to Sean you know you’re talking to a professional and he doesn’t come across as just trying to make a sale, it’s more like he’s trying to give you the best advice for your situation. We explained what we were after and Sean came out to the house to measure the space required. Sean was very good, he took his time, and explained the various carpets and what would suit. I was very pleased to have found someone who knew what they were talking about. He’s obviously done it for a long time.
That same evening we got an email back from Sean full of information of the types of carpet available, price, quality, all the details you wanted to help you make up your mind. The email also included a proper quote to carry out the work if we wanted to go ahead. We agreed and then organised a day for the fitters to call out and install the carpet.
Before we found Sean, we had spoken to another carpet shop who quoted a price for an inferior carpet that was 400.00 Euro more expensive than the better carpet we were able to get from For Floors. It’s nice to meet someone like Sean who seems like they’re interested in your situation and in giving you the best service possible at a good price.

Had you definite ideas in mind before you talked to Seán McBride?

Just that we needed a durable carpet because it was going to cover a high traffic area.

Did Seán introduce new ideas?

He did, yes. Sean was very helpful with the options I had available to me and recommended a high quality, durable carpet for the stairs and landing. He told me that it would cost a little more but that it would do the job and that we would get more years out of it.

How did the project run?

Excellent. The carpet installers from For Floors arrived when they said they would and got straight to work. Just from looking at how they presented themselves, I felt confident that I was going to get a good job done. You know when you see someone coming in and they’re neat, their tool boxes were tidy and the back of their van was nice and clean, it was very reassuring. They had a place for everything and really appeared to know what they were doing. Having experienced other carpet fitters, it was really very refreshing to see people do the job properly. My experiences in the past were sometimes reasonably ok, sometimes not so good but this experience was excellent.
You would want to see this job, it’s beautifully done and the finish is excellent. When they completed the job, they gave me loads of aftercare advice on how to best maintain the carpet. It was a very professional service.

What was the biggest benefit to you of using For Floors?

The price and their reliability. The whole experience was so good that I called Pickapro because I wanted to do a testimonial for For Floors myself.

What’s your favourite part now?

The fact that we got a far better quality carpet for less by going to For Floors. They’re amazing.

Would you recommend For Floors to others?

Absolutely and in fact I’ve already recommended Sean to a few people. I live in Dublin and the area we’re in got flooded. We were higher up and luckily didn’t get it but others I know weren’t as fortunate. I told a few people that if they were looking for good carpet at a good price to look Sean up.

Any tips for other people?

Definitely shop around. We did and got a higher quality carpet at a much cheaper price because of it.
